Ohio, Ontario, same difference

The day that the horrific exotic animal tragedy in Ohio happened also happened (not coincidentally) to be the day I decided to read the current issue of Maisonneuve magazine, the cover story of which is how Ontario is basically an unregulated free-for-all when it comes to the purchase and possession of non-native species like lions, tigers, venomous snakes, cougars, etc.

So if you, like me, were thinking that Canada generally has more regulatory sense than U.S. jurisdictions, you’re wrong. Hooray.
