‘Terra Nova’ - The Most Expensive Cheap Show on TV
FOX has spent $20 Million dollars on ‘Terra Nova’ making it the most expensive new TV series of the season and but they are using Nerf guns painted black as actual props. I guess those CGI dinosaurs don’t come cheap, because I can’t imagine that the crazy guy from ‘Avatar’ commanding a high price-tag. I do wonder if Nerf knows about this? FOX has been advertising ‘Terra Nova’ lately by using the tag-line “What is the secret of Terra Nova?” and the secret is they are saving some cash on actual prop designs by just spray painting Nerf guns. I feel bad for the ‘Terra Nova’ PA’s that have to go hit up every Target, Toys-R-Us and Wal-Mart in Australia scavenging for this certain type of Nerf battle rifle and buying up the entire stock of each store.
Oh, this is fantastic news. This reminds me of when ‘Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy’ was recycling props by using the ‘Starship Trooper’ armor and weapons. Yeah, that actually happened.

I don’t care a single bit if a sci-fi show spray-paints toys to use as props. Spray-painting shit is a time-honoured sci-fi set-dressing and prop-making tradition. I do care, however, if a show features poorly-drawn characters and hackneyed storylines, which Terra Nova does.
The dinosaurs are cool, though.
